Modern architecture is a style of architecture that originated in the early twentieth century, and is the most prevalent style in our world today. Modern architecture rejects ornamentation, and traditional styles such as Gothic architecture, and supports the principle that functionality is the true measure of a piece of architectural work, rather than aesthetics. Skyscrapers are the embodiment of that ideology, which explains their prevalence in our society today. However, will we really look back 200 years later and see skyscrapers as architectural masterpieces, the same way that we view cathedrals as architectural masterpieces today?
